THIS LEO SUNRISE – Utrecht/NL – Met afstand de beste folky-band van Nederland als je het mij vraagt. Inmiddels al een jaar of 10 te samen. Rauw, intens, puur en onafhankelijk. Of zoals VPRO Dwars schreef:
“Met een donker, melancholiek en vaak meeslepend geluid is de muziek van This Leo Sunrise te plaatsen tussen slowcore, alt.country en americana. Een vergelijking met Timesbold, Woven Hand en Will Oldham ten tijde van een vroege Palace, is niet geheel onterecht, maar This Leo Sunrise weet zich moeiteloos te onderscheiden wat sfeer, teksten en arrangementen betreft.”
In het voorjaar zullen zij hun nieuwe album uitbrengen.
By far the best folky-band I know. Raw, intense, pure, honest and independent. Think Timesbold, Wovenhand, Will Oldham, but than different. Together for about 10 years now. Amazing live band, unique atmosphere, songs and lyrics. This Spring they will release their new album.

BIRD / BARDT VAN DER DENNEN – Eindhoven/NL – Afgestudeerd beeldend kunstenaar gaat folkliedjes maken is hoe het ooit begon. Lange tijd als een prachtig trio opererend, en nu weer solo. Meesterlijk liedjesschrijver; melancholische folkypoppy liedjes met kop-en-start, geen gekke fratsen. Onafhankelijk tot op het bot; zelf platen uitgeven&ontwerpen, tours opzetten, en zelf concerten organiseren. Zoals wij het graag zien!
Visual artists with an artschooldegree starts making beautiful melancholic folk/singersong songs. He played live with a band for some years; now he plays solo again. Songs with a clear start&end, no nonsense. Independent to the bone; he released several vinyl records, followed by a couple of tours. As we like it!

ANDREA ROTTIN – Brno/CZ – Geboren&getogen in Italië, nu woonachtig is Brno, Tsjechië. Bij Andrea geen melancholische liedjes. Live is hij overweldigend; geluiden, stemmetjes, maffe ritmes. VPRO Dwars: “Als singer-songwriter doet Andrea Rottin meteen denken aan Syd Barrett, of aan een lichtelijk schizofrene versie van Peter Hammill. Zijn debuut cd ‘Songs About Nightmares’ is ook werkelijk een album over zijn eigen nachtmerries. In zijn songs steekt hij de draak met zijn dromen, hij relativeert met humor zijn nachtelijke angsten.”
Tijdens deze tour zal hij zijn nieuwste 7″ promoten, met nieuwe nummers, opgenomen bij VPRO Dwars.
Born&raised in Italy, now living in Brno, Czech Republic. No standaard melancholic singersong-songs. Live he is overwhelming; strange sounds, voices and ritmes. Some say he sounds like Syd Barett, or the schizofrenic version of Peter Hammill. He released a cd ‘Songs About Nightmares’, which is full of songs about his own nightmares. It is full of humor! On this tour he will promote his 7″, with new songs recorded at VPRO Dwars.

ATLANTIC CABLE – CZ/Italy/Canada – Jaren geleden onmoet op het fesitval van Bob Corn; toen waren ze mogelijk het beste optreden wat ik gezien heb die drie dagen. Waanzinnig, wat een energie! Nieuwe drummer, nieuwe stijl. Het kan nog steeds vuig, intens en hard, maar de decibellen zijn ingeruild voor de intensiteit van onversterkte optredens. Bluesy, folky, en toch met dat rauwe r’n'r-randje. En waar het allemaal om draait: die stem! En uiteraard die bassist, geen ontkomen aan!
Years ago I met them at the festival of Bob Corn; they probably did the best show during those three days. New drummer, new style, but they can still play raw, filthy and intens, but now, the decibelles are replaced for the intensity of playing acoustic shows. It’s bluesy, folky, but still with that raw r’n r edge. And not to forget; it’s all about that voice! And ofcourse the bassplayer, no doubt!

OLDSEED – Canada/Germany – Onze canadese vriend Craig is een prachtige liedjessmid, met duidelijke invloeden van grootheden als Bonnie Prince Billy en Damien Jurado, maar ook zeker van “oudjes” Townes vanZandt en John Prine. Live altijd met sterke live-sets; intens en ingetogen, maar ook fel, met een goed gevoel voor humor! Geeft zelf al jaren zijn platen uit, zet zelf zijn tours op en concerten organiseren. Nogmaals: zoals we het graag zien! Niet te missen!
Our friend Craig is a marvelous songwriter, with influences from Bonnie Prince Billy and Damien Jurado, but also from “oldies” like Townes vanZandt and John Prine. Live he is at his best; intense and modest, but also sharp as a knife, and with a good sense of humor! He releases his own records for years&years, sets up his tours and concerts for others. Again, as we like it! Must see!

MESTA – Serbia – + POWERDOVE – usa – - Een gezamelijke tour van twee prachtacts!
Van ons bevriende Servische duo Mesta komt in mei hun nieuwe lp uit. Slowcore, folk, soundscapes zijn zo ongeveer de uitgangspunten. Verwacht minimalistische, langzame serene liedjes, met spirituele teksten in het Servisch. Uniek!!
Powerdove tapt al sinds 2004 uit dezelfde vaatjes als Mesta; slowcore, folk, soundscapes. Achter dit project gaat Annie Lewandowski schuil, live aangevuld met gastmuzikanten. Ze heeft inmidels al een boel releases op haar naam staan. Prachtige stem, waarmee zij een schitterende sfeer neerzet!
Unique tour of two great bands, who both drink from the music-soup; slowcore, folk, soundscapes. For Mesta it will be their second european tour, now promoting their new lp; Annie Lewandowski, the women behind Powerdove, is the veteran of the package. After loads of cd’s, she will now have a new 7″ out on this tour!

TOURSUPPORT
Door onze jarenlange aanwezigheid in “het wereldje” hebben we een leuk netwerk opgebouwd dat we soms inzetten om (veelal buitenlandse tourende) acts te helpen met hun tour. Hier maken we geen gewoonte of broodwinning van overigens. We doen dit alleen voor bands waar we al langer mee samenwerken, of/en als we het muzikaal goed genoeg vinden en als persoonlijk klikt. Het hoger liggende doel is om een “community” op te bouwen met elkaar dat elkaar kan helpen en stimuleren in het creatieve proces (muziek makend, organiseren, optreden, vormgeven, etc.).

Because we go around for a while in the bizz, we build up a nice network, which we sometimes use to help (mainly foreign/touring) acts. We don’t do this on a regular basis, or to make a living out of it. We only do this with/for people we know for a longer time, or/and if we realy like the music and if it works on a personal level. Our goal is to create a “community” that helps eachother in the creative proces, on all levels (organizing, making music, playing gigs, artwork, etc.).
